An older inmate - around 70 years old - deposited his empty tray at the proper place, walked over to me, and asked, "Boss Man, I'm old. Can I eat again?" I told him it was a nice try, but ''No." I should have told him to go to his house and hit the sack, because sleep is a time machine to breakfast.

05-29-2025 - 5:30 AM - Good Morning! It's Thursday, and the Texas Rangers lost again last night. I can see that guy speaking to the team in the movie The Natural: "Losing is a disease." There are no Amateur (ham) Radio contacts between U.S. schools and the International Space Station listed for the very near future. I'll keep you posted. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.

05-28-2025 - From our Allred Unit consultant: All cells at the James V. Allred Unit come equipped with a toilet, washing machine, drink cooler, and garbage disposal-never mind that they all look like toilets. I could add "hot pot" because one Correctional Officer reported that an inmate used a homemade stinger to heat water in the toilet to cook ramen noodles.

05-28-2025 - From our law enforcement consultant: In the early 1980s, on the night shift, a man was found passed out across one of the two sets of train tracks behind what was then the Railroad Inn at Iowa Park Road and North Broadway. A train driver going by on the other tracks reported the incident! It is unknown if the man passed out there or was helped there by others. He had a 50% chance of having a split personality-and a split everything else-and won.

05-28-2025 - From my corrections consultant - Two Allred Unit cooks (offenders) got into a fistfight over who made the best biscuits. Yep, it happened. In my opinion, the biscuits were nothing to fight about. The cake, on the other hand, was delicious! Tune in to Allred at 153.815 MHz on your scanner.
