Wichita Falls Pundit

ABOUT

Wichita Falls, Texas, is home to the World's Littlest Skyscraper, a six-lane Farm to Market Rd that doesn't lead to a farmers market, highway loops that don't loop, and a high of five homicides in one day. Why would we live anywhere else?

This journal, on Wichita Falls, Texas, is inspired by Hobby Radio communications. I can't guarantee it will be what you want to read, but I guarantee you'll get your money's worth! I make no such claim about your time, which is non-refundable in our present state of technology.

This simple, static website has one function: to put my text on your screen. There is no comment capability. WordPress, or any other "content management system," is bloated overkill for my needs. Feel free to post a link to any journal page* on X, formerly known as Twitter, and comment there. I will respond. That's the best deal I can make. *Don't link to the Home Page for comments because that content moves to a dedicated page almost daily. Wait until that material moves to a dedicated page. I have no other social media accounts.

I've been a CB Radio since 1964. I've held an Amateur (ham) Radio "Extra" license since 1982. I also have a GMRS license, but no GMRS radios. I still operate CB Radio. I have Morse code running in the background most of the time. Sometimes I make contacts, and sometimes I just listen. I've done digital, repeaters, and I've got a decent stack of DX QSL cards. Now, it's Morse code and two-meter FM simplex, analog radio scanning, and some CB Radio. I use a Putikeeg straight key for Morse, not a keyboard. I don't own an amplifier.

For any other areas of Hobby Radio communications, I observer and comment or I have zero involvement. Don't expect deep thought, analysis, or tech talk. I'm here to have fun. I do not represent any club or organization. Anything I post about a person or organization is based on personal knowledge or publicly available information. Some material was taken from journals I've had over the years. Some of the domains I still have, and some I don't.

While Amateur (ham) Radio and CB Radio are exempt from the FCC interception and disclosure rules, some services are a "gray area" (my opinion) when it comes to disclosure. While I might announce an activity, I don't always disclose its contents. That's where your scanner comes in!

Cookies are not used. Personal information is not collected. Outbound links (other than "X") are affiliate links. If you make a purchase through an affiliate link, I will earn a commission.

From Kelso in the movie Heat - 1995: It comes to you, this stuff just flies through the air, they send this information beamed out over the place, you just got to know how to grab it, see, I know how to grab it.

From an unknown pilot: "Maintain thy airspeed lest the Earth rise up and smite thee."

Sign at a skydiving drop zone: "Deploy parachute before impact"
